Forms Rules

Individual Form
Forms Categories are divided according their origin: Chinese, Korean, Japanese or free ( those which don’t belong to a traditional style, no matter their origin or technical base will be considered free).

Every competitor has to turn up properly dressed and ready to compete.
It’s the competitor’s responsibility to be in the competition area before the category starts.
If a competitor arrives when the category has started, he-she has to come to compete immediately.

A competitor has to be ready when called to compete. All the Forms Competitors have a maximum of three (3) minutes to perform his-her form technique. The time starts when the competitor goes into the area. If his / her performance takes longer than the stipulated time he/she will be automatically disqualified.


To start the form again.
Only the competitors of beginners and intermediate categories will be able to perform again in the case of a mistake. If he/she finishes his/her performance, the person in charge of the points report will take off 0,50 from the final point.. If the competitor doesn’t finish his performance for the second time he/she will be automatically disqualified.

Weapons division
a) The main judge will have to check all the weapons just for safety. The weapons are subject to the main judge’s approval.
b) Safety of all the competitors, judges, spectators and assistants have to be taken into account, for that reason it is very important the control the competitor has over his weapon .. If the competitor drops the weapon accidentally, he/she will be automatically disqualified. If a competitor uses his/her weapon carelessly or neglectfully, he/she can be penalized or disqualified.
c) The competitor has to make sure of taking the correct and sensible distance before starting his/her performance, in order to be at a minimum distance of one meter from de judges while performing.

Forms assessment

Black Belts: Each judge will assess the forms between 9.01 and 9.99
Advanced Belts: between 8.01 and 8.99
Beginners / intermediate belts: between 7.01 and 7.99

When drawing
The first three competitors have to participate without being given points. When there are 5 or more judges, the highest or lowest point will be omitted before summing up the points. If after summing up the points of each competitor there is a draw, the highest and lowest points can be add up to break the draw. Except when a first place has been given.
The competitors who end in a draw for the first place, as well as those who remain in a draw after adding the highest and lowest points will have to make their form again to break the deadlock ( draw)
