Continuous Sparring


UNIFORM

Every competitor has to wear a complete uniform (jacket and trousers). If the uniform has aggressive words written on it, the competitor will no be allowed to take part in the competition.
T shirts, sweatshirts or any other will only be accepted if they belong to the competitor official school or if it holds the school’s logo or name.
It’s the competitor responsibility to know the rules and to be ready to compete when called to do so. He/she will be called three times to appear at the side of the area. If he / she isn’t present when called for the third time he / she will be disqualified.

Combat
All the competitors who are going to fight have to be officially weighed before registering, only once.
If a judge thinks that a competitor tries to be heavier by wearing more clothes or equipment than necessary, he will be asked to take off the clothes considered unnecessary before being weighed. The decision of weight and / or the real weight has to be registered in the competition card.

Combat time
An elimination fight will last:
Children: 1 minute and a half
Teens and Adults: 2 minutes.

This time will be running except that one of the competitors gets the necessary points to be called winner before the end of the stipulated time. Time running means that the clock won’t be stopped when marking the points unless the main judge decides otherwise.
If at the end of the two minutes the fight remains a draw, the fight will continue for extra time until sudden victory. The competitor who gets the first point will be declared the winner.

Points value
All the marked legal hand techniques will be worth one (1) point. All the marked legal kick techniques will be worth two (2) points. All the penalty points given to a competitor will be worth one (1) point. The competitor who gets five (5 )points wins directly . If none of the competitors gets five (5) points when the stipulated time finishes , the one who gets more points will be the winner.

How points are given
The marked points are given according to most judges’ votes. It’s not necessary that most judges agree about the technique marked, but they have to agree about the place where it was marked. They have only to decide if the marked point was for a kick or hand technique.
A majority of judges giving points to the kick will be necessary to be able to give two points. Otherwise, only one point will be given.

What is considered a point
A point is a legal technique with control of the martial art, marked by a competitor, in the ring, who hits the opponent with the permitted contact in the legal area of the body to mark a point.

Legal point area : All over the head, ribs, chest, abdomen and collarbone.
Illegal point area: The spine, nape, throat, side of the neck, groin, legs, knees and the back.
Attacking these areas could result in penalty points and / or taking him/her to task..
Parts of the body involving no points: Hips, shoulders, gluteus, arms, legs and feet. If a judge considers that the competitor is attacking on these areas, they can take him/her to the task or / and give a penalty point.

Illegal techniques:
Heads impact, hair pulling, biting, scratches, poke with elbows, knee blows, any kind of attacks to the eyes, heel blows or kicking the head of the opponent on the ground, pulling down, slapping, grabbing, uncontrolled techniques, uncontrolled punches, any dangerous uncontrolled technique that endangers the physical integrity of the opponent.

Legal techniques:
They are those techniques of martial art applied on legal contact area. Direct hand techniques and those using the back or side of the hand are permitted as well as legs techniques not using the heel or metatarsus, jumping or not.

Sweeping
Sweeping applied to the back of the leg which is in front, from half of the tibia downward will only be allowed if done with the intention of blocking the opponent’s balance and not of knocking him down .These sweepings are legal if they aim to throw the opponent off balance accompanying this movement with a legal technique on valid areas.

Contact definition
Light contact: It means that there is no penetration, or excessive strength, or visible movement of the opponent resulting from the technique. This kind of contact can be applied on all the legal point areas.

Moderate contact: It means there is a light penetration or excessive strength, or movement of the opponent. This kind of contact can be applied on all the legal point areas except the head.

Excessive contact: It happens when the opponent hits harder than necessary to mark a point. Although this is quite personal the following reactions can be useful to indicate that the contact has been too hard.

a- The opponent’s head shakes backward in a visible way, because of the strength of the hit
b- The opponent falls down . (Not because of carelessness when applying a technique or when he’s responsible of falling, sliding or losing balance).
c- The opponent is knocked out
d- Swelling or blood caused by the hit.
e- Injury caused by a hard hit.

Contact requirements
The contact required to mark points within the legal area has to be light to the head or light and moderate to the body. Any breaking of this requirement can result in a warning or a penalty point.

Penalization
Warning and Penalties

The competitor will be warn only once before being penalized for breaking any of the rules.
After the first warning, the opponent will be given a penalty point for any and each breaking of the rules. If a competitor is warned 4 times ( being the opponent awarded three penalty points) in any combat, he will be disqualified and the opponent will be declared the winner.

Other penalty rules
a- A competitor can not be awarded a point and penalized at the same time.
b- A competitor can be awarded a point if the opponent has been penalized
c- If a competitor can not go on fighting because of an injury caused by the opponent’s illegal attack, the competitor who committed the penalty will be disqualified.
d- If a competitor gets a point and after it he breaks a rule, the point received, although legal and before the infraction, will be invalid and the infraction charged

Disqualification
the majority of the judges’ votes will be necessary to disqualified a competitor , except if the competitor is disqualified for receiving three penalties.

Out of the area or ring
The competitor will be out of the area when neither of his feet is into the area or touching the limit line. If using a jumping technique, the attacking competitor has to fall to the ground with a foot into the area to be awarded a point.
Going out of the area will be penalized if the competitor does it to avoid the fight, not if it has resulted from the combat itself.

Coach advising in the competition area ( coaching)

a- No coach, friend, member of the team or whoever can go into the area, in any circumstance, without the main judge’s authorization. Only judges, competitors and doctors are allowed into the area.
b- Advising the competitor will not be allowed if it is excessive, violent, too passionate or not corresponding to a sportsman or sportswoman behaviour .
c- A coach can not interfere in the activities of a competition area or with the judges’ decisions
d- Breaking any of the above mentioned rules will be penalized

RECOMMENDED SAFETY EQUIPMENT

All the competitors in each division have to wear the equipment approved by the organization, such as head, hand, feet, mouth and inguinal protection( being the last one feminine or masculine as corresponding)
If the equipment is not considered safe, the competitors will be asked to change it before competing.

Hand protections
Fingers, wrist and any other part of the hand used to hit have to be covered with any soft and padded surface. The back and side of the hand have to be protected as well as the knuckles of the fist.

Feet protections
The instep and sides of the foot, toes, ankles and the back of the heels have to be covered with a soft and padded surface.

Head
The head front, side and back have to be covered with a soft and padded surface.
It’s compulsory to wear tight mouth protection.
